Research

I specialize in telling the stories of the past, and connecting current generations with their ancestors in an engaging way. When I research, I look for the interesting stories, the intriguing connections. Maybe someone in your family was Abraham Lincoln’s personal barber. Or a town constable. Or a state senator. The past is just waiting to be discovered, and your family’s stories are waiting to be told. Let me tell them, or let me help you tell them.

How Can I Help You?

Genealogists, like doctors and historians, tend to specialize. Some genealogists specialize in tracking adoptions, others specialize in regional histories or a specific time period. Our expertise area usually stems from our academic backgrounds and our personal family history, which is normally how genealogists begin their journeys.

My expertise is in the American experience of immigrants from Europe. I’ve researched family lines all along the Eastern seaboard, from Connecticut to Florida, and from many European nations, including Great Britain, France, Germany, Scandinavia, Denmark, Greece and Italy. My university research was primarily in American History, from the early colonies to the late 20th century. I’ve also done a lot of research in medieval European history.

The best way for me to begin helping you is if you have a specific question, and your question in some way fits the regional and time periods mentioned above. For example, let’s say there’s a family rumor about Native American heritage, or you heard once you’re related to George Washington. Those are great! Maybe you’d like to join a lineage society like DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) or SAR (Sons of the American Revolution), and you want to see if any of your lines go back to an eligible candidate. No problem!
